Greetings...
Wow it seems like TT is now running a skeleton crew... due to lack of internet at home I have been reduced to watching and listening from afar.... but how enjoyable it has been. i will be back soon to contribute more, promise. In the meantime here are a few of my recent faves...powerful, cavernous techno of the highest order....

Villalobos & Babizc @ Warung Beach Club
I just wanted to boast that I am going here tonight. Hyper pumped.
I saw MMayer a few weeks ago here - it was insane.
I recommend you techno heads get out here sometime.

Nicolas Jaar LIVE @ Bar 25
There's been a lot of talk about this guy recently, and I am still not 100% convinced on his 'organic techno' sound, but the more you hear, the more you start to come around...

Belated Top Electronic Albums of 2010

I blog over at http://quarterpastmidnite.blogspot.com/ and my buddy Jack Murphy asked me to start contributing to this blog too so I thought I'd give it a shot. This is a duplicate of a recent post on my site but I reckon it'd be of interest to readers of Techno Transmission too. Note: I appreciate we're a few weeks into 2011 now and most best of lists have long since been and gone!
2010 was as fragmented and schizophrenic a year as ever in the world of electronic / dance music. In what strange world is Actress dubstep or Instra:Mental drum & bass? Artists seemed to be inter-breeding at an unprecedented rate with an irreverent approach to genre-bending. Flying Lotus transcended his Dilla’esque associations and pulverised everyone's brain with a bar-raising genre-less masterpiece. Meanwhile Shed made a techno album that jumped wildly between tempos and beats yet hung together beautifully. Similarly, the masterful Actress created an album that took in a bewildering range of influences yet pulled it all off with aplomb. In each of these cases, the artist took their genre as a frame to hang everything else onto; a starting point or a set of signifiers within the music. This was about building from the past but not in a nostalgic way. The best of these albums were surreal mutations adeptly mixing up old fragments into unlikely shapes.
Berlin
I think all of you have all been several times, but not me. So this year to celebrate my 26th birthday, I am making the pilgrimage to Berlin for five nights of untold seriousness.
I would love very much for people to come. The dates are
Thursday April 6th - Monday April 11th
If not, can I ask for some recommendations of things to do and see? Don't leave out anything you think is obvious, I'm pretty clueless.
Boom tsi boom sti piiissssssshhhhhhh ahhhhhh etc.

GusGus - Demo 54
Not much to say about this other than it's serious. I remember people playing it late late late in Room 1 years ago and tracked it down this week from a Hobo Minus Connections mix (also uploaded). It really reminds me of that room. A deep, brassy, slow and druggy work out. I love.
